New Jersey synth pop Singer-Songwriter, bedroom producer, actor and above all Little Monster Charley Furey has released new single Gold; alongside a hilarious, heart-warming lockdown inspired video that’s an absolute must see for those trying to navigate their way through quarantine dating life!
According to Charley ‘Gold’ is about loves push-pull affect – feeling deeply for someone who isn’t ready to be loved; being unable to fight those feelings and the duality and inner war that accompanies.
I love the juxtaposition between Charley’s melancholy tone and all too familiar tale of longing against a playful, shimmering, upbeat electro-pop track.
On first listen I was instantly reminded of synth pop royalty “Years and Years”.
Warm bubbling synths,a punchy steady 80’s drum beat, not to mention an instantly singable top line, Gold is ridiculously catchy and a track listeners will no doubt want to spin again and again.
