Indie-pop duo Dady returns with vintage-infused jewel ‘Dark Mode’

Hailing from the US, uber-cool indie-pop duo Dady is now returning to the music scene, after not releasing music last year. And oh boy, we are glad they are, because their latest offering ‘Dark Mode’ really encapsulates their contemporary, edgy qualities, all tied up by a slightly vintage flavour. Chorused guitars, steady grooves, and ultra-catchy vocals motifs: we are all here for it!

Formed by singer Rachel Dady and producer Jesse O’Connor, the Northern Virginian duo have a long history of artistic engagement, growing up together in high school and further on forming a strong musical bond in New York City. ‘Dark Mode’ crowns a successful career so far, gearing the band up for an even more extraordinaire future. About the song, the duo explains: “Dark Mode was written and recorded (almost) all in one day during the summer of 2020. With this release, we decided to explore warmer, more organic instrument sounds, a bit of a departure from our early production and beat-heavy tracks. Chalk it up to turning 30 (or all of the Phoebe Bridgers and Soccer Mommy we listened to over the course of the pandemic), but we wanted to take our foot off the gas with Dark Mode. Both vocally and production-wise, it’s an exploration of how less can be more.
