Releasing the fun, party hit ‘Fly’ – In Conversation with Alo Wiza

Hailing from Belgium, Alo Wiza is a globetrotter singer and songwriter; inspired by the soul and funk pillars, her style is always dynamic and fully on-set with the times. Following the release of her latest effort, the light, dancy gem ‘Fly’, we sat down with her to find out more about her artistry, her past and her future. Interview below!

YMX: Hey Alo Wiza, thanks for sitting down with us. What would you say to all our readers new to your project?

ALO WIZA: Hi music lovers! I’m a Singer/Songwriter born in France from Belgian and Afro-American descent. I’ve lived in many different countries and written hundreds of songs in different genres. But as for now, I am focusing on pop music.

YMX: When did you know that music was something you wanted to pursue at an artistic level?

ALO WIZA: My dream was always to be a singer but I only discovered my gift for writing several years ago. After studying music, I would say the last 5 years I’ve really taken my career seriously.

YMX: You recently released the dancy banger ‘Fly’. Can you tell us how that project came about?

ALO WIZA: I wrote this song when I was in Clearwater Florida at Clear Track Studios. This is the very first song that I started and finished all in the same day. That also includes: recording, producing, mixing & mastering. Amazing experience! I think we worked all the way until 5am. Writing “Fly”, I wanted it to be a fun, party dance hit. With simple words everyone could relate to. Basically being with the one you love and needing their help to Fly and escape reality.

YMX: What is the one thing you would like people to feel while listening to the ‘Fly’?

ALO WIZA: Happiness.

YMX: How did the recent pandemic influence your creative process? is remote collaboration easy for you?

ALO WIZA: Way before the pandemic struck, I often collaborated with artists all around the world. Although during Covid lock down in Belgium, I had absolutely no inspiration. Instead I found comfort playing golf all day.

YMX: Do you feel more confident writing music alone, or within a team?

ALO WIZA: Both! It’s all about finding the right team/person to collaborate with. Often not an easy task, so mainly I write alone.

YMX: Can you name the last gig you played? Would you consider doing a livestream concert?

ALO WIZA: The last gig I performed at was over a year ago at the finals of Top Model International at Lido de Paris. If a good opportunity for a livestream concert presents itself, I will gladly take up the challenge.

YMX: Finally, what are your plans for the future?

ALO WIZA: I am currently working on 2 new music videos for 2021 releases. I have also been writing new music and shall return shortly to pro recording studios to finalise their productions. I have no gigs planned, just 100% focused on writing, recording, creating videos, content and promo.
