Four Day Beard is a dynamic indie rock band with experimental elements. Their latest album titled “Somnium” is a night dream made of guitars, deep vocals and melodies. their sounds are musically more evolved than their previous productions and the Four Day Beard are ready for you to hear! “Chasing Birds” is the first single from the album, a sort of requiem of both love and mortality, all in the same track. The video of the single was shot remotely due to the medical emergency due to the covid and uses scenes shot individually. Listen to them: you won’t be disappointed!

YMX:  Hey FOUR DAY BEARD, how is it going? some of our readers might not be familiar with your project, how would describe yourself, in a few words?

FOUR DAY BEARD: Four Day Beard’s music is brooding and dynamic indie rock with post-punk, shoegaze, psychedelic and experimental elements. Some have referred to our sound as classic 90’s indie rock.

YMX: Your current work is the result of a long journey; What first drew you to making music?

FOUR DAY BEARD: I have always had a deep interest in both listening to and making music. Four Day Beard began as an outlet for thoughts and feelings during a particularly difficult time of isolation, alienation and maybe a bit of culture shock after relocating from Southern California to a small rural town in the Southern Midwest.

YMX: What would be your dream collaboration?

FOUR DAY BEARD: This is an interesting question. I’m such a huge music fan, I could probably write a list a mile long. Here are just a few that come time mind: Kim Deal, Merrill Garbus, Steve Albini, Rick Ruben in no particular order.

YMX: You recently released “Somnium“. Can you tell us how that project came about?

FOUR DAY BEARD: Our latest album Somnium is a nocturnal dreamscape of overdriven swirling guitars juxtaposed with soft, sweet and sometimes smokey deep vocals. We had worked on this group of songs for a bout a year and we wanted to get them out to the world.

YMX: What inspires your songwriting work?

FOUR DAY BEARD: Difficult times, relationships, introspection and philosophy

YMX: We are all missing live music at the moment. Once on the other side, which music venue would you choose for your first gig?

FOUR DAY BEARD: Pretty much anywhere. Something small, local. I’m sure we will have some dust to knock loose.

YMX: What’s your band strategy in terms of music promotion? Direct-2-fans or via the “big dogs”?

FOUR DAY BEARD: Direct to fans. We are still building our fanbase.

YMX: Finally, what are your plans for the future?

FOUR DAY BEARD: We would love to play shows as soon as it’s possible. We didn’t really get a chance to properly promote our new record as it was release just at the start of the pandemic.
