London-based Psychedelic R&B duo Tamarind Dream create a seamless amalgam of guitar-centric contemporary soul music with elements of R&B and Psychedelic Rock and an undeniable seventies spirit. A collaboration between Daniel Bond and Tarik Khan, the pair craft the most chill of vibes with a plentiful amount of feel-good grooves. Today marks the release of the band’s debut single entitled ‘Grapefruit’ which is the first of six individual, catchy singles being drip-fed over the next few months. Grapefruit merges delicately unique vocal tones with cascading guitar melodies over mellow, laidback grooves. Tamarind Dream explain the meaning of the song:
“Grapefruit symbolises the bittersweet feeling of the present – what we’ve had to leave behind and a promise of what we have to look forward to.
Inspired by the likes of Tame Impala, Thundercat & Tom Misch, Tamarinds Dream music is an effortlessly delightful fusion indeed. Grapefruit opens with the clean electric guitar dancing along the fretboard with soulful and jazz undertones. Minimally groovy bass and a gentle beat serve as the perfect backdrop for the smooth vocals, saturating the listener’s headphones with a pool of unique harmonies and chords. Sonically reminiscent of a more future-forward cut on Stevie Wonders ‘Visions’, the track has just enough nostalgia to give it that touch of magic, while retaining a modern edge. A stunning debut, ‘Grapefruit’ is an instant classic.
