Hailing from Drammen, Norway, Karethe Eriksen is a composer and singer-songwriter whom uses her musical talent to craft poignantly meaningful songs that boast powerful melodies and a refreshing, uplifting warmth throughout. Her brand new debut single ‘Common Space’ is about the urge we all feel to have a place where we can talk freely and be open and loved without judgement from others.
The track itself effortlessly swims between feelings of warmth and melancholia which is further impacted by the excellent and ever-changing arrangement of the song. The song begins soft and mellow (aided by Karethe’s smooth vocals) before slowly building in strength with some beautiful touches of violin, drums, harmonies and piano that sonically reflect the songs sentiment.
Similar to the likes of Brandi Carlile, LÉON and Maggie Rogers, Karethe paints her words over a canvas of rhythmical fingerpicked guitar and having already supported acts such as Adam Douglas and Ida Jenshus in Norway, it’s safe to say Karethe Eriksen has only just begun on her brilliant musical journey.
