Today we bring to you something a little special: John Pierce O’Reilly is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and composer from London, whose main influences range from artists such as James Blake, Bon Iver, Joni Mitchell, John Martyn, to classical musicians such as Szymanowski and Mahler. John has already had the chance to watch his music on some BBC radio stations and has also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, proving not only to know how to be on stage but also earning fans and listeners! Today he presents his EP entitled “Iffley road“, written and recorded in his bedroom in a student house on Iffley Road in Oxford, from which the title originated.
The EP was born because at that moment John felt a sense of frustration with the musical language experienced up to that time, as well as with some personal circumstances; so it made the EP a kind of challenge to take a step forward both through new musical challenges, but also personal. The music, therefore, reflects John, his life and his interiority; it describes his relationship with people: relationships, losses, love and nostalgia… The singer gives us emotions through his words and I’m sure many will find themselves!
