Following up from recent single ‘Wonderful World’, hip-hop powerhouse returns with ‘Step One’, an extremely catchy banger full of groovy sauce and with a certain 90s flavour.
Hailing from Los Angeles, US, RaneRaps (also known as Mr. Hot Jam) can be defined as a showman, blending raw musical talent with strong vintage hip-hop aesthetic across fashions, themes and presence. Inspired by the likes of Outkast and Andre 3000, RaneRaps takes on rap is an exuberant journey, effectively making it fun and an easy listen. Slowly building an organic following, he has amassed more than 400k streams on Spotify alone, while a collaboration with fellow artists, ‘Sinner’, reached over a million plays. We are positively impressed by RaneRaps, and as somebody nostalgic of Outkast, we pleasantly welcome upbeat and fun gems like ‘Step One’.
Described as “bold, brash and colourful like nothing else on the rap scene right now”, ‘Step One’ features an infectious bouncy beats, outlined by snaking synth lines, all humbly serving RaneRaps’s engaging and sharp vocals, gloriously grooving over the music, further showcasing an innate lyrical quality. Colourful and bold, the track focus on the struggles and the intricate road to being an independent artist in 2020.
