Discovering our uniqueness in HENDRIX’s latest single “GRAVITY”

I’ve always found intriguing those artists capable of creating Concept albums or Songs connected to each other in order to create a series that can capture the attention of new listeners and old fans. Music nowadays is also about discovering innovative ways to keep the attention span high. This is why having something correlated to the previous material is great. IAN HENDRIX embraced this concept and made a fantastique series based on a simple and yet really strong message: no matter how hard things get we are somebody special and we should never forget it. The last part of this journey is called “GRAVITY”, an exquisite indie-pop track twisted with modern productions, creating a cinematic and relaxing vibe that’ll envelop you like a warm hug.
A must listen if you’re on the hunt for the perfect soundtrack to cheer you up and set you in the right mood to face another day.

YMX: Hey HENDRIX, thanks for talking to us. How have these gloomy times been treating you?

HENDRIX: Hey! It’s only gloomy if you don’t look for the light!!

YMX: How did you decide music was something you wanted to pursue? Are there any particular episodes that inspired you in doing so?

HENDRIX: Music has been part of me my whole life. I knew at young age music had a unique effect on me. I wanted to be able to create that same feeling for myself and for others.

YMX: Here’s a fun game: name 3 artists, or bands, that inspire you and influence your work, and explain why:

This is a hard question. There are so many artists that I really like and am constantly looking for new influences. However, to answer your question, my first and main influence was my father. He was always playing music in the house. He played multiple instruments and taught me the basics of a couple of them to get me started. I guess you can say the next major musical influence on me and my music is New Order. I loved their unique instrumentation and how they wrote their songs, with the dance vibes and melancholy lyrics. I can’t pinpoint the third influence. I like so many different artists and each one influence my writing in different ways.

YMX: You recently released “GRAVITY”. Can you tell us how that project came about?

HENDRIX: “Gravity” – The song Gravity and the video for Gravity were produced at different times. The song Gravity was first and fit within the premise of the video series.

YMX: How did the pandemic affect your personal music recording experience? Was it easy adjusting to working remotely?

HENDRIX: The pandemic really didn’t affect me a whole lot. I had already set up my home studio prior to the pandemic…so we were ahead of the curve.

YMX: Professional Livestreams seem to be really taking over these days. Is it something you would consider doing?

HENDRIX: Possibly down the road. All the artists on most of the material are contributors, so I’d have to work around multiple schedules. I do plan on starting a series on other aspects of my music which I plan on starting up in a couple of months.

YMX: Since pandemic began, online music promotion has become crucial for an artist’s growth. How important is that for you, and are there any strategies you are willing to share with our readers?

HENDRIX: I think what’s been key for me is having a video/visual component associated with the music. It’s enhanced my music promotion ten fold.

YMX: Finally, what are your plans for the future? (releases, gigs etc.)

Even though Gravity is the last video of this series, I have a backlog of music that I want to come out with. It will most likely have a video component, however still finalizing the idea.
