Victor Perry is a singer and songwriter that grew up singing in church and has been an active artist/ recording artist for 7 years now. Some of Victor’s influences are: Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Coldplay, Mikky Ekko, London Grammar, RY X, Troye Sivan, Radiohead.
“What I Deserve” is the first single off of his upcoming EP REWIND. The song was recorded at JahRockn Studios in NYC and was produced by Chris Belmont. “I was one day watching a concert of RY X and became so overcome with emotion that I just started writing. I didn’t really have any idea what I was writing about but I decided to for in that “feel.” I too often close myself off from what I feel. This song is a true representation of some emotions that I deal with on a day to day basis.”
“What I Deserve” is an alt-pop/alt-r&b song that explores the guilt we feel once a relationship goes awry. The song follows the narrative of how someone feels guilty after a relationship goes awry. How and where does one place that guilt is something we all struggle with from time to time? It’s a touching torch song in the classic tradition, both poetic yet relatable lyrically – a trait made all the more evocative by Perry’s effortless vocal acrobatics, using his expansive range and dazzling falsetto with precision so laser-sharp it could cut glass.
The NYC-based artist no longer hides his beautiful range or searches for a production that “fits.” A journey of self-discovery that we all must embark on. With “What I Deserve” we are re-introduced to the artist’s harmonic delivery of words and sounds. Even more so, we are re-introduced to Perry’s multifaceted storytelling.
